Josh Kraft Demands Transparency from Mayor Wu on White Stadium Spending
Cites refusal to share costs “the clearest sign yet” that Wu thinks Boston voters are fools, lays out his own action plan on White Stadium
BOSTON, MA – At a press conference held this morning outside White Stadium, Josh Kraft demanded transparency from Mayor Wu after she admitted she would not be releasing the true cost estimate of the White Stadium project until after the election. CLICK HERE FOR JOSH’S PRESS CONFERENCE REMARKS
“Mayor Wu’s refusal to disclose the true cost of the White Stadium project is the clearest sign yet that Michelle Wu thinks the voters of Boston are a bunch of fools,” said Josh Kraft. “From the secretive bidding process onward, it is clear that the Mayor has apparently concluded that taxpayers don’t even deserve to know how much of their hard-earned money she is spending. That’s not leadership.”
“My campaign is about giving voters a choice: A choice between transparency and obfuscation, a choice between a candidate who says she trusts the taxpayer and a candidate who actually shows it. My administration will bring back transparency, fiscal responsibility, and inclusivity back to City Hall,” added Josh.
As Mayor, Josh would take the following actions on White Stadium:
- Cancel the current contract
- Bring all community stakeholders together and listen to their needs and concerns before moving forward – something this mayor never did
- Commission a use study that will determine what size stadium and amenities BPS student athletes need
- Develop a new White Stadium plan that makes the facility available to BPS kids – not 15% of the time, not 10% of the time … but 100% of the time … and at a fraction of the cost.
This plan will allow the hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars now slotted for White Stadium to get housing construction going again, provide residential tax relief for our seniors and renovate Madison Park High School along with many others who’ve been waiting for long-needed renovations.
