Josh Kraft | Democrat For Mayor

Kraft Campaign Statement in Response to Mayor Wu’s Lies and Personal Attacks

BOSTON, MA – The following statement from the campaign is in response to the repeated falsehoods that Mayor Wu has been making about Josh Kraft with respect to the purchase of his home, his voting record in Boston and his work in and around the city for the last 35 years, as well as characterizations that he is running an unfairly negative campaign, all of which merit a fact-based response:

“Michelle Wu’s allegations about Josh Kraft are categorically false. Josh purchased his Boston home with his own money. Josh’s voting record is clear, he has voted in multiple elections as a Boston resident. And Josh has worked in and around the neighborhoods of Boston for 35 years – most of it for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston – and his work long predates when Michelle Wu arrived at Harvard.

Mayor Wu’s campaign of falsehoods address her record of failures as Mayor of Boston – from housing to the Boston Public Schools, from managing the budget to managing her own personnel problems inside City Hall.

Josh has offered a clear and fact-based assessment of Mayor Wu’s numerous policy failures coupled with his own detailed proposed policy solutions.

From the traffic chaos caused by her haphazard and poorly executed bike lane program, to her failure to address the crisis at Mass and Cass, to the numerous failures plaguing the Boston Public Schools (including the most recent bus tragedy), to her plan to pour over $100 million of taxpayer money into White Stadium instead of rehabbing our crumbling public school buildings, to her failure to enact rent control and her policies that have caused new housing production to grind to a halt, our campaign is going to continue to hold Michelle Wu accountable for her many policy failings.

In contrast, Michelle Wu is advancing a dishonest campaign to convince voters of things about Josh Kraft that she knows are not true. The biggest lie is that Josh Kraft is new to Boston. Michelle Wu knows that Josh Kraft has been working in the city of Boston for 35 years, including 12 years as the CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston.”

About Josh

Josh Kraft has spent his life working where it matters most – in Boston’s neighborhoods alongside the kids and families. His first job out of college was in South Boston, going door-to-door to make sure students made it to school, a role that exposed him to the hard edges of poverty but also the quiet strength of community. In 1993, with Chelsea under state receivership, he founded the Boys & Girls Club in the basement of public housing, raising funds from local businesses, organizing a basketball league with police officers as coaches, and spending the next 15 years turning that space into a trusted hub for thousands of young people. As President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, he expanded into new neighborhoods, doubled membership, and led a $132 million campaign to strengthen the organization’s reach. Most recently, he served as President of the New England Patriots Foundation, continuing his work to close opportunity gaps across Massachusetts. Through every chapter, Josh has shown what real leadership looks like: grounded in service, built on trust, and focused on delivering for people.
