BOSTON, MA – The following statement is from Josh Kraft regarding Mayor Wu’s budget for the City of Boston in the next fiscal year:

“Budgets are value statements, so it is telling that in her capital budget, Mayor Wu has made funding for White Stadium a priority over funding for Madison Park High School and other new school construction. Funding for White Stadium is the largest item in FY26 Boston Public Schools capital budget.  

In addition to the $20 million already spent on White Stadium, a project that primarily benefits a private interest, the Mayor’s plan calls for spending an additional $67 million in this fiscal year, while the same capital plan spends zero on renovations at Madison Park Technical Vocational High School. This is wrong, and a striking example of the consequences of Mayor Wu’s pledge to spend whatever it takes on White Stadium.”
